Classes

Winter is long in Wisconsin, and it's a great time to heat up the forge - the hammering warms you up from the inside out!

Up to this point, classes have been casual. They're open to beginners through seasoned blacksmiths.

Classes take place in my blacksmith shop, so you're surrounded by the tools and materials I use daily.

The format is to pair up 2-3 less experienced people with an experienced blacksmith. The team works at the same anvil and forge. While your metal heats up in the forge, someone else hammers. The experienced blacksmith is there to guide you. There is some lecture time, but the bulk of the day is spent working on a project.

Sometimes there is a theme to a class, like Garden Art, but other times it's very open-ended. People have made backscratchers, letter openers, hooks, flower sconces, fire pokers and more. Project ideas are available, and you can use your imagination, if you want.

What is charged per class varies, mostly depending on the materials required, if there's a theme.

Attendees should be 15 years of age or older.
